Make Sunday Special is bigger than ever!

Make Sunday Special is back... and even bigger and better than ever, apparently! The event gets bigger and bigger every year and for this year, the city council wants reach some of Bristol's neighbourhoods as well as having the fun in the city centre too. 

For those who are not familiarised with Make Sunday Special, it is a unique chance to walk, enjoy, play and have fun in the city's busiest streets. It happens only during summertime, the first Sunday of each month, when several streets were closed to the traffic, and food, vintage clothing, jewellery and souvenir stalls... take over the streets. There is also family games, relaxing areas and very good atmosphere! 

The city centre will celebrate Make Sunday Special every first Sunday of the month from May until September and the neighbourhoods will have one day celebration (Bedminster, 14th June; Hartcliffe 6th September; Avonmouth 13th September; Easton and Lawrence Hill (tbc). 

There is a list of market stalls and street traders already confirmed on the official website (here) but application forms for trader applicants are still online. If you are interested in trading at one of the events, I am sure they's love to hear from you!

The Vintage Kilo Sale

Do you like wearing vintage clothes? Denim jackets, old rings, accessories, jumpers, shorts... EVERYTHING! Then, you should keep reading. Next Sunday, 28th November, the UK's largest retro shop will come to Bristol: the Bristol Vintage Kilo Sale. They will bring 5 tones (yes, tones!) of vintage clothes to The Paintworks so that you can buy clothes by weight!!

I might be updated but this is the first time I have ever heard of buying clothes by weight. I do buy oranges and apples by weight, but never clothes! In this market, you simply need to select whatever you like, take everything to a "weight station" and pay £15 per kilo (if you buy 10 kilos or more, the price per kilo drops to £10). This is crazy!! Hahaha

Entry fee is £1.5 general public (12-4pm) or £3 early birds (11am) which has to be paid by cash. Then, you can buy the clothes with credit or debit card.

Something old, something borrowed

"I need to check that store someday...", she must have repeated to herself more than once. She might have passed by the shop in Gloucester Road more than ten times this week, and other ten times last week. But she never had enough time to stop by.

Eventually, she did. Today, there she was, gazing at the old vinyl record player inside the Reclaimers. She was listening to a song from the 70s, although according to the expression on her face, she couldn't identify which song it was. It was not important, though. What it was important was that every single thing in that shop reminded her of a story.

As soon as she entered to the shop, the strong varnish smell teleported her to the deepest memories. When dad used to varnish doors and shutters when sun beams have worn them down, or when mom was feeling inspired to take the paintbrush. Varnish brings a lot of memories to her, as well as the old typewriter, those wooden armchairs, the smell of the vintage furniture, the milk cart, the fireplace...

She wanted to take everything home, all the memories, and decorate it in a similar way to the place she was raised. 

She knew it was impossible, anything would fit in the flat she was now living in. But it might fit in yours!
