Get it logged; Get it back.

Last weekend when I went to the Dog Show (read here) and I got the chance to talk to a policeman in Bristol about "Immobilise". For a very long time now, I have been hearing many people complain about their bikes being stolen, which is sadly a very common thing happening in Bristol. Some time ago, I published a post with several things to take into account when to avoid your bike from being stolen.  It was called "Please, steal my bike!" and you can read it by clicking here. However, bikes are not the only things to be stolen or get lost: computers, cameras, mobile phones...

The policement told me the department of Lost Property in Bristol receives many objects which nobody claims, and they are not able to return to its owner simply because they don't know who the owner is.

IMMOBILISE is a free national property database where you should register your belongings and you can be re-united with them fast if they are ever lost or stolen. Almost any item can be registered within minutes, from toys to tools and mobile phones to motor homes.

If one of your registered items is stolen, you simply have to inform the police and go to the website to update your item's status, and hopefully get it back.

The registration process is really easy: you register your account on www.immobilise.com  selecting Avon and Somerset Bike Reg. and once you've created your account, you can add your inventory items selecting item type (bicycle, camera, mobile phone, tablet, SatNav, computer, gaming console, ImmobiVan, ImmobiTag, key tags, iPod, MP3, TV, radio, jewellery, luggage and others), details and identifiers. It takes some time but it's for your own benefit! :)
