This year, for many reasons, I decided to dress up as the ugly witch in Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. One of the reasons why, is that I have two themed fancy dress parties this weekend (Halloween and Middle Ages), and the evil ugly witch costume can be used in both parties.
So, I needed to get a black gown with a hood, a long blond wig and a big ugly witch nose... apart from some red apples!

I don't like spending too much on things that I will use just once. Basically what I do is either to search for the cheapest place to buy that specific thing that I will need once... or try to buy something that could be used for other occasions too.
On Wednesday, I walked along Gloucester Road and found two fancy dress shops: Poppers (151 Gloucester Road) and Fancy Dress Fanatics (212 Cheltenham Road). Both shops were quite busy, apparently most of us decided to find our costume last minute, and both shops had black gowns, cloaks and capes. Any of them convinced me, though. Some were part of a complete set of costume and therefore, too expensive (£26.99) and I found a cheap black cape in Fancy Dress Fanatic for £9.99 but the quality of the fabric was dreadful.
When I arrived home with empty hands, I turned on the laptop and accidentally came across a website of a fancy costume shop in Bristol called Costumes R Us. They are in Fishponds, and more than a shop, I would call it the most complete warehouse of costumes ever!
I took the First Bus number 7 in Old Market and it took me around 15 minutes to get to the bus stop closest to the destination (Whitewood Road). From there, it's just a 3-minute walk until you get to Costumes R Us. Although there are some signs, to actually find the exact place where the warehouse is happens to be a little bit tricky. I hope the map on the left helps.
As you enter to the main office, you realised that the business basically works online, on their own website or via Ebay. A very nice blond girl help me find the perfect cape for my outfit. They even allowed me to open some of them and try them on to see if it fitted my expectations. So, finally I found the perfect black velvet cape with a hood.
On the way back, I took the First Bus number 6 in Whitewood Road (west), which brought me directly to Cabot Circus. It took me just one hour to do the whole thing!
Finally, I had a very convincing Evil Witch costume for just £18.64.
Happy belated Halloween!! Mwahahaha...
